The Showcases Are Up!

     The September Virtual Showcases have been posted! This includes both the adult showcase and the teen showcase (Second City edition).

"What is a Virtual Showcase?"

     The Virtual Showcase was created by Matt Miller to provide actors a cost-effective way to be seen by industry professionals. Actors record a scene or monologue along with commercial copy and a brief interview, and the footage is posted online with their headshot and resume. The showcase is then emailed to more than 200 industry contacts in Chicago.

"So only Chicago industry professionals will see it?"

     Not necessarily! Since the showcase is online and accessed via a link, that link can be sent to contacts outside of the Chicago area. Trying to land an agent in New York? You can send them the link to your footage. All they have to do is click on the link in their email. It's that simple.

    I'm pleased to announce that thanks to popular demand, I'll be heading up another Teen Coaching and Virtual Showcase at The Second City! Just coached my first workshop of teens at The Second City Training Center! I am recording their Virtual Showcase tomorrow and I. Cannot. Wait. These young actors were professional, asked smart questions and came ready to work. What more could an instructor ask for?

     It's July!!! 2016 is officially half over. Temperatures are heating up, and so is audition season. Are you ready? With school out, kids need a different outlet to release their creative energy. Editing Session: Kid/Teen Virtual Showcase

I've been sitting on the floor editing this month's Kid/Teen session of Matt Miller's Virtual Showcase. These kids are ADORBS. If agents don't snatch them up asap, I might just have to become an agent myself so I can sign them. So far during the session I've learned about street punks, nougat, safety patrol, and an entrepreneurial cookie salesgirl. I am laughing so hard there are tears in my eyes. Chicago Talent Agents: sign these kids! Casting Directors: call them in! Their showcase recordings can be viewed here once they have been posted.

Second City, Here I Come

Ummm, so THIS is happening! Next month, July 7 and 8, I'll be teaching my first workshop at Second City. Whoa! I can't wait to meet these teens and work with them on commercial copy and scenes. After giving them each a bit of coaching, I'll be recording their performances to be posted on Matt Miller's Virtual Showcase. Why is this awesome? Well, for one thing, there aren't a lot of showcases for teenagers to participate in, so this is a great and somewhat rare opportunity for them. AND the industry is always looking for young talent. Just finished taping an audition for one of my teen clients and sent it off to her agents in LA. Thanks, Abby, for being super prepared as always. I am constantly impressed by the talent in this town! And thank you to Acting Studio Chicago for the space!
